What is it?

Metabolic Strength Training is a scientific system of whole-body, interval-based strength/power workouts based on the same strength & conditioning methods used by today’s elite athletes.  It stimulates multiple joints and muscles simultaneously, creating an amazing cellular response that increases total metabolic rate for 12-18 hours after the workout.  You get stronger, leaner, and very fit. Workouts have three great aspects: expert trainers leading you, science-based prescription, and an incredible team environment. The result? You burn fat while building muscle. Workouts are conducted in a new private training studio featuring state-of-the-art equipment using modern strength & conditioning protocols!

Frequently Asked Questions

How fit do I need to be to benefit from BootCamp?
We offer two levels of BootCamp.  BootCamp 1 is for people who have some exercise experience but are new or novice at strength training, or simply want a lighter workout.  BootCamp2 is for those who are accustomed to regular cardio workouts and strength training.  If you are brand new to exercise or returning to it after a long absence, and would like to prepare for BootCamp, see a Team Fitness trainer about FitCamp.

Will BootCamp cause me to “bulk up?”
Not in and of itself.  Our goal is to optimize lean-to-fat ratios, not create muscle-bound body builders.

How often should I do a BootCamp workout?
We recommend two per week, but once per week is fine too.  More than twice per week is also okay, but for most people, two will be plenty.

What time of day are the workouts?
We offer BootCamp at various times of day to accommodate most schedules.

Can I drop in?
BootCamp runs in 4-week sessions, and you must reserve your space for a whole session at a time, whether it’s a once a week package (4 workouts), twice a week (8 workouts), or more.  This way, you’re committed and it’s easy to build the group camaraderie that contributes to a really standout experience.

How much does Viking BootCamp cost?
You can purchase BootCamps  in prepaid packages of 10 ($140), 20 ($280), or 30 ($420).

How does Viking BootCamp fit with my existing personal training arrangement?
If you are on a regular strength program, with or without a trainer, keep it up.  BootCamp is not a replacement for formal strength training.

Would Viking BootCamp replace my cardio schedule?
Two BootCamps per week will cover 75-80% of an optimal cardio program.

How many people in a workout?
Expect between 8 and 12 people to join you in a BootCamp workout, making it a fun, motivating, team experience.

How is this workout different from group cardio fitness classes that come with my gym membership?
What is the value added?
Viking BootCamp is completely different from the group fitness offerings at most health clubs.  Typically, group cardio classes use light weights that help get the heart rate up, which improves aerobic capacity.  Viking BootCamp is metabolic strength training, featuring equipment and techniques that overload the muscles, which is necessary to signal the brain to build lean mass. The exercises are performed at a high-intensity pace involving multiple muscle and joint systems at the same time, which spikes the heart rate in intervals over the course of the workout.  This combination uniquely and powerfully stimulates the metabolism to burn fat for up to 18 hours afterward, while maintaining or building muscle tissue.  This is how we improve body composition.

This sounds kind of extreme. Will I need to bring my own death certificate?
These workouts aren’t meant to kill you. They are vigorous but not lethal. The protocols are designed to accommodate different levels of strength and power capacity in a given movement. You’ll return to friends and family fitter and reinvigorated, and feeling the pleasant effects of major endorphin release.
